Frederick Foresteire, 79, was convicted last week of indecent assault, and a judge sentenced him to 90 days in jail with the remainder of his two-year sentence being suspended, the Middlesex District Attorney's Office said. He also must serve two years of probation for repeatedly groping a 41-year-old staffer's buttocks in 2017 and 2018 at the Everett Public School Administration building, the prosecutor said.

Foresteire served as superintendent of Everett Public Schools from 1989 until 2018, when allegations of assault first surfaced. The school board suspended him as they investigated the claims, but he stepped down soon after.

Two other former employees he supervised — a 47-year-old and 64-year-old female — also accused Foresteire of inappropriately touching them at work in 2015. He initially denied the claims, but Foresteire changed his plea to guilty this week.

The judge sentenced him to 18 months in prison, with the sentence being suspended for a year, the prosecutor said.

The court also ruled that he must stay away from his victims and Everett public schools. He must also register as a sex offender, officials said.
